EVE Online – Lightrops PvP
I’ve been PvPing in many MMOs for over a decade now and I love it. I find it very challenging at times but it definitely hits the sweet spot between being enjoyable and being satisfying. In the game of choice for me, it was the satisfying satisfaction of farming ISKs and the addictiveness surrounding the ever-expanding stock of resources. However, after getting involved in the Belters versus Dustlings fights late in the Eve Online Teaser Events I realized I had a desire to do more than just fight it out with strangers.
The biggest thing I noticed about the fights is that it was simply a matter of getting to objectives and then fighting over the given time. Sure there was a fair bit of fighting to be done but getting the kill and earning the respect of my bystanders was the real goal. At first, I was a bit unhappy with this as it meant that no real progress was being made in the game and that all control of the situation was passed to the enemy faction. Once the dust settled and the next bus tested I realized that this was a good thing.
I immediately set about setting up my own corporation and rising the ranks of the said corporation so that I could provide support and aid for my brethren in their warfare. It doesn’t take long before a full-fledged battle fleet was in operation. I had noticed that a few days after implementing this service my corporation happened to fall prey to an assault near the fourth system we controlled. I quickly checked the source of the attacks and found that it was originated from a group of GPU jammer batteries. I quickly lethal all of them and posted a few fighters on the other side of the system so that they would have cover while our forces engaged the enemy. The defenders gave up and admitted defeat. The next day when we attacked again they chose to supply support. This time we were effective. We took some ships out of the queue and then allowed them to join the fight. We then put those ships on auto-pilot and began to destroy the enemy support. It took a few days but suddenly the enemy became quite intimidated.
When the dust cleared everyone noticed that all of the attackers had managed to get through and that the real work began. We were able to hold off the attackers for quite a while and were surprised that the odd man quickly worked out a new plan. It didn’t take long to dig in and slowly the enemy ships were reduced to towers and the attackers were forced to use much more energy on defense in order to try and defend their tower. It was in this fashion that the first true victory was achieved. Soon reinforcements came and the first of the defenders were able to give the real good guys a good spanking. Once the dust had settled and a victor has declared one thing was obvious, the enemy had been beaten. The victory went to us.
Not long after seeing action in the Donial match, another very epic struggle began. Our enemy had tried to go it alone but now was having a majorWeakness.Civilians, who did exist in the game, began to come and were falling slowly from the skies. Now, something magical had happened, the word had reached the Terran mind that they could use their civilian hostages to end the fighting and get an enormous financial advantage. Thus began the first great Terran civil vigil in the war. the tactic had to be conceived and quickly came to be. It was now called The Ghost Campaign.
A TerranSCAPTOR will now give you a short summary of this campaign. For every 10 citizens who are killed your building will be diminished. You will lose one level of your command center. Also, for each civilian, you kill you get500 Minerals. With these resources, you are able to rebuild your military finery, and eventually, you will be able to enter your opponent’s territory and take out their command center and civilization.
Your mission in this campaign is to buy time so that you can send your marines to gradually yen back the front lines. It will take some time for your marines to return to this city so be patient. The real key to this campaign is to buy time enough for your marines to destroy the cities enveloped by the fighting. After you have completed this task then the game will begin to play normally. During this time you’ll have to continually send your marine squadrons to the various front lines to help it out. It’s kept pretty simple and seems like a quick templar game of chess.
I love the new buzzards concept, red rings, and blackbirds. They have personality and are definitely getting a personality!! This is one of the best arcade conversions I’ve ever seen!! I hope they continue doing more in the future.
